FATREC Workshop on Responsible Recommendation Proceedings [PDF]
We sought with this workshop, to foster a discussion of various topics that fall under the general umbrella of responsible recommendation: ethical considerations in recommendation, bias and discrimination in recommender systems, transparency and ...

We investigated the compatibility of beekeeping with pollinator conservation in ‘prairie strips’ a conservation practice integrating native prairie habitat into agricultural environments. At prairie strip sites with and without a honey bee apiary, we analysed plant–bee interactions and bumble bee body conditions to determine the effect of apiaries on ...

Belowground Communities in Lowlands Are Less Stable to Heat Extremes Across Seasons
We experimentally exposed soil communities collected at different elevations and seasons to extreme heat events –based on site‐specific climatic history‐ and measured the stability (resistance and recovery) of Collembola and fungi, representing key trophic groups in belowground food chains.

Topics in random graphs, combinatorial optimization, and statistical inference [PDF]
The manuscript is made of three chapters presenting three differenttopics on which I worked with Ph.D. students. Each chapter can be read independently of the others andshould be relatively self-contained. Chapter 1 is a gentle introduction to the theory

Assessing Input Legitimacy of Occupational Pensions in Europe
ABSTRACT As private asset‐based welfare like funded occupational pension schemes gain importance, legitimacy concerns arise due to financial market downturns and low investment returns. This paper assesses their input legitimacy by distinguishing between individual‐direct and collective‐representative input possibilities in decision‐making processes ...

Development of multivariate and network models for the analysis of Big Data: applications in economics, insurance, and social sciences [PDF]
In questa tesi sviluppo metodi statistici multivariati e di rete per lo studio di sistemi complessi. In particolare, focalizzo la mia analisi sullo studio di reti complesse bipartite e le loro applicazioni a (i) l'economia, per capire l'effetto di ...

Competitive versions of vertex ranking and game acquisition, and a problem on proper colorings [PDF]
In this thesis we study certain functions on graphs. Chapters 2 and 3 deal with variations on vertex ranking, a type of node-labeling scheme that models a parallel processing problem. A k-ranking of a graph G is a labeling of its vertices from {1,...,k}

Weak Hadamard matrices and Weakly Hadamard diagonalizable graphs
A weak Hadamard matrix is a $\{-1,0, 1\}$-matrix $P$ such that $PP^T$ is tridiagonal. We explore the underlying algebraic and combinatorial structure of weak Hadamard matrices and weakly Hadamard diagonalizable graphs (graphs whose Laplacian matrix is ...
