The Space Within: How Architected Voids Promote Tissue Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 7, 2 February 2026.
This review explores the role of void spaces in tissue engineering scaffolds and examines four key methods for introducing porosity into hydrogels at different scales. It discusses sacrificial templating, microgels, phase separation, and 3D printing, highlighting principles, advantages, and limitations. It also addresses emerging strategies integrating

Shaping the human face: Periosteal bone modeling across ontogeny

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 2, Page 271-292, February 2026.
Abstract Facial morphology is a defining aspect of Homo sapiens that distinguishes our species from fossil ancestors and plays a central role in estimating age, sex, and ancestry in both past and present populations. Understanding how the face develops during postnatal ontogeny is essential for interpreting adult facial variation.

Efficacy of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Postoperative Delirium in Elderly Patients Undergoing Non‐Cardiac Major Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
In this double‐blind randomized controlled trial, preoperative 10‐Hz rTMS targeting the left DLPFC reduced postoperative delirium within 7 days in older adults undergoing elective non‐cardiac surgery compared with sham stimulation and was well tolerated.

Assessing the Relationship Between the Eichner Index and Articular Eminence Inclination in Temporomandibular Dysfunction: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Dental Research, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background The articular eminence is essential for the proper functioning of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), guiding the movement of the mandibular condyle along its posterior slope. Changes in the inclination of the articular eminence (AEI) can occur as a result of tooth loss or aging.

Coupled authigenic Mg silicate and carbonate precipitation in saline lakes of the Salar de Atacama, Northern Chile

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 1, February 2026.
Sediments, unlithified and lithified microbial mats in the Salar de Atacama, are formed by similar pathways involving coupled precipitation of authigenic Mg silicate and calcium carbonate. Differences in products reflect differences in the initial distribution of organic biomass.

Quantifying Bite Forces for Solid Foods: Implications for Patients Postmandibular Reconstruction

open access: yesHead &Neck, Volume 48, Issue 2, Page 346-356, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Bite forces required to masticate different food consistencies remain unknown, complicating dietary guidelines following mandibular reconstruction. This study quantifies the forces required for solid foods and estimates safe bite limits postreconstruction.

A Novel Multimodal Deep Image Analysis Model for Predicting Extraction/Non‐Extraction Decision

open access: yesOrthodontics &Craniofacial Research, Volume 29, Issue 1, Page 101-111, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to develop a deep learning model classifier capable of predicting the extraction/non‐extraction binary decision using lateral cephalometric radiographs (LCRs) and intraoral scans (IOS) to serve as an additional decision‐support tool for orthodontists.
