Geometrical approach to balanced incomplete block designs
Summary: Construction and analysis of balanced incomplete block designs need special care. There are several methods to construct balanced incomplete block designs. We try to give relations between parameters of balanced incomplete block designs and properties of projective geometry and related geometries. We offer some geometrical examples.

We show that any family of universal quantum gates can be implemented based on a single optical hybrid/Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI)/directional coupler (DC) and either a highly nonlinear optical fiber or a tap coupler with an avalanche photodiode ...

Resistance of Balanced Incomplete Block Designs
Hedayat and John (1974) studied the case of resistance of a balanced incomplete block design (BIBD) to the removal of one treatment. They showed that a necessary and sufficient condition for a BIBD to be resistant (that is, retain its variance balance) upon removal of a single treatment is that the two proper subdesigns created by this removal be BIBDs.

Cavity Quantum Electrodynamics (CQED)-Based Quantum LDPC Encoders and Decoders
Quantum information processing (QIP) relies on delicate superposition states that are sensitive to interactions with environment, resulting in errors. Moreover, the quantum gates are imperfect so that the use of quantum error correction coding (QECC) is ...

Robustness of Balanced Incomplete Block Designs
When a variety is lost or omitted from a balanced incomplete block design, the residual design is not, in general, balanced. A lower bound is obtained for the overall efficiency in this case and it is shown that the overall loss of efficiency even in the unbalanced case is small.

ON D-OPTIMAL CHEMICAL BALANCE WEIGHING DESIGNS
The paper deals with the problem of determining the chemical balance weighing designs satisfying the criterion of D-optimality under assumption that the measurement errors are equal correlated and they have the same variances.

On inequivalent balanced incomplete block designs, I
AbstractThe existence of at least two inequivalent balanced incomplete block designs is established for certain designs with λ=1 and block size m+1 where m is a prime power. An asymptotic result for the number of inequivalent solutions of such designs is also proved.

Hybrid Key pre-distribution scheme for wireless sensor network based on combinatorial design [PDF]
Key distribution is an important problem in wireless sensor networks where sensor nodesare randomly scattered in adversarial environments.Due to the random deployment of sensors, a list of keys must be pre-distributed to each sensor node before ...
