On the Balanced Truncation of LTV Systems

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2006
This note furthers results on the balanced truncation of stable linear time-varying discrete-time systems. The main result contributes better error bounds than the currently available ones in certain model reduction scenarios; this is demonstrated in an example of a four-mass translational system.

Balanced stochastic truncation of coupled 3D interconnect

Proceedings of 2013 International Conference on IC Design & Technology (ICICDT), 2013
Model order reduction techniques have been used extensively to reduce the complexity of extracted interconnect circuits and to expedite fast and accurate circuit simulation. In this paper, we introduce a balanced stochastic truncation in model order reduction of a coupled 3D interconnect to provide uniform approximation of the frequency response of the

Properties of Frequency Weighted Balanced Truncation Techniques

2007 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering, 2007
In this paper, we derive interesting conditions under which the frequency weighted balanced truncation techniques: Enns' technique, Lin and Chiu's technique, Wang et al's technique as well as Varga and Anderson's technique are equivalent.

Mixed balancing truncation for better impulse response

KSME Journal, 1996
Two methods of balancing reduction are presented. The first is to truncate the states corresponding to smaller Hankel singular values of the reciprocal balanced system. The second is to choose one of some balancing methods, that has the least impulse response error by reducing one order at a time.

LOCAL OPTIMALITY OF MINIMUM PHASE BALANCED TRUNCATION

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2002
Balanced model truncation has been considered by many authors, since it is a simple and, nevertheless, efficient model reduction technique. In many cases the approximation error may be bounded by a function of the neglected singular values. In this paper the performance of balanced truncation of state space models for ARMA processes is analysed, where ...

On balanced truncation for symmetric nonlinear systems

2014
This paper is concerned with model order reduction based on balanced realization for symmetric nonlinearsystems. A new notion of symmetry for nonlinear systems wascharacterized recently. It plays an important role in linearsystems theory and is expected to provide new insights tononlinear systems.
