The Italian hare Lepus corsicanus, an endemic lagomorph of Italy, serves as a critical case study in evolutionary biology and conservation. Pleurospermum austriacum (Apiaceae) is reported from the Bistrica River basin in the Šar Mountains as a new native species in the flora of the Republic of Macedonia. This is also the first report of the genus Pleurospermum in the country´s flora.
