The paper analyses the phenomenon of infinitive loss in Balkan Slavic in the context of the broader cross-linguistic process of subjunctive-infinitive competition (SIC). I adopt a diachronic perspective, analysing the historical developments pertaining to SIC in languages ranging from Old Church Slavonic to present-day Bulgarian and Serbian.

The Eastern Romance Languages as Members of the Balkan Sprachbund
The purpose of the present article is to compare four Eastern Romance languages, namely Daco-Romanian, Aromanian, Megleno-Romanian, and Istro-Romanian, in terms of their morphological and syntactical features typical for the Balkan Sprachbund. The twelve features listed in the work by Jouko Lindstedt (2000) are examined.
