Design and Modeling of Flexible Ball Joint Pipe

OTC Brasil, 2013
Abstract Reel-lay process is considered the most efficient installation/construction methods for offshore pipelines and has attracted particular interest on the designing of pipe with large elastic deformation capacity. Therefore, an unbonded, flexible composite ball joints pipe is proposed.

BALL JOINT

2011
The invention relates to a ball joint (10), comprising a joint housing (12), a bearing shell (14) received in the joint housing (12) and a ball pin (16) having a ball head (18) that is pivotably arranged in the bearing shell (14). The ball head (18) is substantially preloaded in the direction of a longitudinal axis (A) of the ball pin (16) by means of ...

Theoretical model of ball joint squeak

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2011
Abstract The theoretical model for the ball joint squeak problem is proposed. The ball joint is modeled as a sphere attached to a rotating flexible beam and it is in contact with a semi-spherical rigid socket. The relative rotation and vibration between the ball and socket produces friction stresses causing the dynamic instability of the system.

Fatigue of Ball-Joint Rods for External Fixation

1985
Twenty-three Hoffmann ball-joint rods were subjected to sinusoidal loads, each at approximately constant amplitude, between ±400 and ±975 N at a frequency of 5 Hz. Ball-joint rod compliance was plotted against number of cycles for each specimen. The point of component failure was defined as an increase of compliance of 5% from its initial value ...

[Initial results with the ball joint fixator].

Der Unfallchirurg, 1992
The ball-joint fixator is a one-plane external fixator system that allows correction of the reduction postoperatively. Dynamic axial loading is made possible by a telescoping device. Between January 1987 and June 1991, 312 external fixators were applied in the Department of Trauma of the Surgical University Clinic in Freiburg/Breisgau.
