A Ball‐Milling‐Enabled Reformatsky Reaction
AbstractAn operationally simple one‐jar one‐step mechanochemical Reformatsky reaction using in situ generated organozinc intermediates under neat grinding conditions has been developed. Notable features of this reaction protocol are that it requires no solvent, no inert gases, and no pre‐activation of the bulk zinc source.

Microstructure Evolution of Ni-Based ODS Superalloy Powders During Horizontal Rotary Ball Milling
Microstructure evolution of Ni-based oxide dispersion-strengthened alloy powders with milling time is investigated. The elemental powders having a nominal composition of Ni-15Cr-4.5Al-4W-2.5Ti-2Mo-2Ta-0.15Zr-1.1Y2O3 in wt % were ball-milled by using ...

The amorphization of crystalline silicon by ball milling. [PDF]
The transformation of crystalline silicon to amorphous silicon during ball milling was quantitatively measured by x-ray diffraction and electrochemical methods. Amorphous silicon was found to form rapidly from the very initial stages of ball milling. Simultaneously, the grain size of the crystalline silicon phase decreased. Under extended milling times

Effect of ball milling process on microstructure and mechanical properties of CNTs/Al composites
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and aluminum composite powders were prepared by both wet ball milling and dry ball milling. The CNTs reinforced aluminum matrix (CNTs/Al) composites were fabricated by sparking plasma sintering (SPS) combined with hot extrusion ...

Two-phase coexistence in Fe–Ni alloys synthesized by ball milling [PDF]
We used mechanical alloying with a Spex 8000 mixer/mill to synthesize a series of Fe100–xNix alloys from x=0 to x=49. The Spex mill was modified so that it could also operate at a reduced milling intensity, and we compared the alloys synthesized after ...
