High‐Throughput Exfoliation of Optoelectronic‐Grade MoS2 via Turbulent‐Flow Wet Jet Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable wet jet milling exfoliation method is demonstrated for producing optoelectronic‐grade MoS2 nanosheets using environmentally friendly ethyl cellulose in ethanol dispersion media. Guided by fluid dynamics modeling, this approach is optimized to achieve record‐high exfoliation throughput and concentration.

Transport Properties and Exponential n-values of Fe/MgB2 Tapes With Various MgB2 Particle Sizes

open access: yes, 2003
Fe/MgB2 tapes have been prepared starting with pre-reacted binary MgB2 powders. As shown by resistive and inductive measurements, the reduction of particle size to a few microns by ball milling has little influence on Bc2, while the superconducting ...

Interplay Between Phase Evolution, Fe Migration, and Oxygen Redox in O3‐Type NaxFeyMn1−yO2 Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Why do Na‐ion battery cathodes, that are compositionally closely related, follow different structural paths during battery operation? This work shows how Fe content controls when iron atoms migrate from their original sites. Early migration locks the layers and blocks key phase transitions, whereas delayed migration permits fuller structural ...

Listening to the Formation of Polymorphs in a Ball Mill

open access: yesAnalytical Chemistry
In this contribution, we apply our newly developed ball-milling operando platform, which combines Raman spectroscopy and thermal (IR) imaging, as well as acoustic and high-speed optical video recordings, to the synthesis and transformation of citric acid-isonicotinamide (1:2) cocrystal polymorphs in transparent PMMA jars.

Variations in biocorona formation related to defects in the structure of single walled carbon nanotubes and the hyperlipidemic disease state

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Ball-milling utilizes mechanical stress to modify properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) including size, capping, and functionalization. Ball-milling, however, may introduce structural defects resulting in altered CNT-biomolecule interactions ...
