NALA: a Nesterov accelerated look-ahead optimizer for deep learning [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ Computer Science
Adaptive gradient algorithms have been successfully used in deep learning. Previous work reveals that adaptive gradient algorithms mainly borrow the moving average idea of heavy ball acceleration to estimate the first- and second-order moments of the ...

Functional Analysis of Ligand‐Gated Chloride Channels in a Cnidarian Sheds Light on the Evolution of Inhibitory Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We uncover a large variety of putative inhibitory ligand‐gated ion channels (LGICs) in the phylum Cnidaria, the sister group to all bilaterian animals. Phylogenetic analysis suggests a complex evolutionary history of inhibitory LGICs with diverse neurotransmitter ligands.

Performance analysis of tabular and Fuzzy Q-learning under varying state and action space resolution [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electronics and Telecommunications
Reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms, such as Q-learning, are widely applied to control tasks involving continuous state spaces that require discretization or function approximation.

In Situ X‐Ray Tomography and Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Damage Evolution in C/C‐SiC Composites Fabricated by Liquid Silicon Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the internal structure of fiber‐reinforced ceramic composites affects their resistance to damage. By combining 3D X‐ray imaging with acoustic emission monitoring during mechanical testing, it reveals how silicon distribution influences crack formation.

Convergence results for families of univalent mappings on the unit ball in C^n

open access: yesAnnales Academiae Scientiarum Fennicae Mathematica, 2016
Summary: Let \(\widetilde{S}^t_A(\mathbf{B}^n)\) be the family of normalized univalent mappings on the Euclidean unit ball \(\mathbf{B}^n\) in \(\mathbf{C}^n\), which have generalized parametric representation with respect to time-dependent operators \(A\in\widetilde{\mathcal{A}}\), where \(\widetilde{\mathcal{A}}\) is a family of measurable mappings ...

Pholidota‐Inspired Electronic Skin Possessing Terahertz‐Wave Reflection–Absorption–Transmission Switchability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The pholidota‐inspired electronic skin is successfully constructed, originally realized four‐state reversible switching of terahertz‐wave reflection, absorption, transmission, and secondary reflection. In response to external demands, it issues deformation instructions, verifies the deformation state after the equipment executes the action, and thus ...

Partial Fuzzy Soft Metric Space

open access: yesJournal of Applied Science and Engineering
Matthew introduced a partial metric, sometimes known as a non-zero self-distance. This paper seeks to extend Matthew’s notion to the fuzzy soft universe and create a partial fuzzy soft metric.

Local Convergence for an Improved Jarratt-type Method in Banach Space

open access: yesInternational Journal of Interactive Multimedia and Artificial Intelligence, 2015
We present a local convergence analysis for an improved Jarratt-type methods of order at least five to approximate a solution of a nonlinear equation in a Banach space setting. The convergence ball and error estimates are given using hypotheses up to the

Orthogonal Ionic Liquid‐Based Extraction Strategy Enables Amyloid‐Specific Profiling of Aggregate Proteome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An orthogonal ionic‐liquid extraction (Orth‐iEA) enables selective isolation of amyloid fibrils. TMGBF4 disrupts hydrogen‐bonded β‐sheet networks to solubilize amyloid aggregates, whereas C12ImCl interacts with hydrophobic regions of non‐amyloid proteins.

Crystal Facet‐Polysaccharide Matching in CFS‐P Nanocrystals Drives Fungal Uptake, Vacuole Destruction, and Selective Antifungal Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Facet‐engineered PVP‐capped CuFeSe2 nanocrystals exhibit potent, selective antifungal activity by strongly binding cell‐wall mannan, enabling vacuolar entry and organelle disruption. High‐index facets show superior mannan affinity, validated by theoretical calculations and experiments. CFS‐P induces vacuolar cavitation, mitochondrial abnormalities, and
