Quantum nanoconstrictions fabricated by cryo-etching in encapsulated graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
More than a decade after the discovery of graphene, ballistic transport in nanostructures based on this intriguing material still represents a challenging field of research in two-dimensional electronics.

Scalable Thermal Engineering via Femtosecond Laser‐Direct‐Written Phononic Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that femtosecond laser‐induced periodic surface structures (fs‐LIPSS) can function as phononic metasurfaces, reducing thermal conductivity below the plain thin‐film limit. Phonon Monte Carlo analysis reveals that the periodic structures restrict phonon mean free paths.

Hydrothermal performance of the external wooded frame wall structure reinforced with ballistic panels [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2020
In recent years construction of bullet resistant walls has become very common not only for military buildings but also for public and residential buildings. The existing wall structure in those buildings is reinforced by ballistic panels. However, in the

Quasi‐Static to Supersonic Energy Absorption of Nanoarchitected Tubulanes and Schwarzites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Nanoarchitected energy‐absorptive Tubulanes exhibit record energy absorption under quasi‐static conditions and exceptional inelastic energy dissipation under 750 m s−1 ballistics impact, with high performance spanning strain rates of 12 orders of magnitude.

Ballistic impact response of steel fiber-metal laminates

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
In this article, the ballistic impact response of square clamped fiber-metal laminates and monolithic plates consisting of different metal alloys is investigated using the ANSYS LS-DYNA explicit nonlinear analysis software.

Unified description of ballistic and diffusive carrier transport in semiconductor structures

open access: yes, 2003
A unified theoretical description of ballistic and diffusive carrier transport in parallel-plane semiconductor structures is developed within the semiclassical model.

Analytical model of 1D Carbon-based Schottky-Barrier Transistors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Nanotransistors typically operate in far-from-equilibrium (FFE) conditions, that cannot be described neither by drift-diffusion, nor by purely ballistic models.

Nanolayer‐Encapsulated Stretchable Liquid‐Metal Sheets for Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stretchable liquid metal sheet with both high thermal conductivity and mechanical flexibility is developed. Its trilayer structure, comprising copper‐particle‐dispersed gallium liquid metal encapsulated by styrene‐butadiene‐styrene nanosheets, shows 40.4 W m−1 K−1 conductivity, elongation exceeding 200%, and retention of 96% of its initial ...

Unified ballistic transport relation for anisotropic dispersions and generalized dimensions

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
An analytical formula is derived for particle and energy densities of fermions and bosons, and their ballistic momentum and energy currents for anisotropic energy dispersions in generalized dimensions.

Conductance of non-ballistic point contacts in hybrid systems "normal metal/superconductor" Cu/Mo-C and Cu/LaOFFeAs

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the shape of the curves of "Andreev" conductance of non-ballistic point contact NS heterosystems depending on the bias voltage at the contact.
