Phase angle, impedance ratio, and athletic performance of young adult Japanese track and field throwers

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, April 2026.
Abstract This study investigated the relationship between World Athletics (WA) points and body size, body composition, phase angle (PhA), and impedance ratio (IR) among young adult Japanese university track and field throwing athletes. Twenty‐five female and 39 male athletes (11 and 14 javelin throwers, 5 and 13 discus throwers, 6 and 7 hammer throwers,

Changes in the mechanical properties of tendon structures in lower limbs during repetitive contractions in male long‐distance runners

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 7, April 2026.
Abstract The purposes of this study were to compare mechanical properties of tendon structures during single and repetitive contractions between long‐distance runners (LDR) and untrained males (UTM) and to verify the relationship between changes in mechanical properties of tendon structures during repetitive contractions and running performance in LDR.

Monitoring Near‐Surface Changes Using Anthropogenic Seismic Vibrations

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 6, 28 March 2026.
Abstract The abundance of anthropogenic seismic noise provides a valuable resource for monitoring dynamic subsurface property changes. We utilize railway and wind turbine‐induced vibrations recorded by a geophone array to estimate surface wave attenuation and velocity in the underlying glacial deposits of Illinois.

Helically Magnetized Plasma: From Photonic Fermi‐Arc Metal to Chirality‐Free Uniaxial Medium

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
A helically modulated magnetic field in magnetized plasma realizes a photonic Fermi‐arc metal, enabling full analytical tracking of Weyl node evolution. As modulation strengthens, opposing‐chirality Fermi arcs hybridize and recombine, yielding a chirality‐free uniaxial optical medium without conventional node annihilation.
