Missile defence and the transatlantic security relationship
Ballistic missile defence has re-emerged since 1999 as a controversial issue on the transatlantic security agenda. The article examines this re-emergence. Three phases in the recent evolution of US missile defence policy from 1995-2001 are outlined.

Abstract The Iranian revolution of 1979 is generally portrayed either as the catalyst of sectarian polarization in the Middle East or, more recently, as the foundation of a pragmatic grand strategy shaped by geopolitical insecurity and learning forged by decades of war.
