Ballistic impact performance of composite targets
Materials & Design, 2013Ballistic impact performance of structures made of polymer matrix composites is presented. During the ballistic impact event, the energy lost by the projectile is absorbed by the composite target through various energy absorbing mechanisms. Compression of the target directly below the projectile, compression in the region surrounding the impacted zone,

Ballistic movement performance in karate athletes
Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1997Nine male karate athletes and 13 untrained men did maximal voluntary isometric (MVC) and ballistic elbow extension actions, the latter unloaded (L0) and against a load equal to 10% MVC (L10). The karate group achieved greater (P < 0.05) isometric (32%) and ballistic action peak torque with L0 (30%) and L10 (40%).

Reference ballistic imaging database performance
Forensic Science International, 2004Ballistic imaging databases allow law enforcement to link recovered cartridge cases to other crime scenes and to firearms. The success of these databases has led many to propose that all firearms in circulation be entered into a reference ballistic image database (RBID).
