Ballistic performance of FRP – steel layered structures

open access: yes, 2013
In this study, the impact performance of layered structures made of aramid/epoxy, S2 glass/epoxy, Dyneema and steel subjected to high velocity impact is presented. All materials were previously examined using proper techniques of strength tests.

Static recrystallization of shocked calcite in Ries impact breccias

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Calcite is prone to chemical and microstructural modifications, especially after having been strained at high stresses and strain rates, as during hypervelocity impact events. These modifications include precipitation from pore fluid as well as replacement of strained volumes by recrystallization. In calcite aggregates of a metagranite breccia

Graphdiyne as a Hole‐Transport Channel in Carbon Nitride Heterojunctions for Synergistic CO2 Reduction and γ‐Butyrolactone Synthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 28, 6 July 2026.
A fully metal‐free heterojunction constructed from graphdiyne (GDY) and polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) enables efficient coupling of CO2 reduction and tetrahydrofuran oxidation. GDY serves as a hole‐transport channel, establishing a built‐in electric field that drives spatial charge separation. The optimized catalyst achieves near‐unity selectivity for

South Korea's THAAD Decision at the Domestic–International Nexus: Preferences, Information, and Constraints

open access: yesPacific Focus, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT South Korean President Park Geun‐hye's 2016 decision to authorize the deployment of the U.S. Forces Korea THAAD system—and Beijing's subsequent economic and diplomatic coercion—marked a decisive inflection point in Seoul's China policy.

The Acute Effects of Ballistic and Non-Ballistic Concentric-Only Half-Squats on Squat Jump Performance

open access: yes, 2015
The purposes of this dissertation were to examine bilateral asymmetry as a factor of postactivation potentiation, examine and compare the acute effects of ballistic and non-ballistic concentric-only half-squats on squat jump performance, and compare the ...

Aboveground and Belowground Insect Herbivory Changes Maize‐Wireworm Interactions via Root Volatile Cues

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rhizosphere harbours critical plant‐herbivore interactions often mediated by small lipophilic molecules (SLMs). Despite the agricultural importance of many soil‐dwelling insects, surprisingly little is known about chemically mediated belowground crop‐pest interactions. Root and shoot herbivores can influence these interactions by modifying

Computational Modeling of Decision Making Enhances the Adversity Researcher's Toolbox

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract Over the past decades, there has been major progress in our understanding of how adversity influences cognitive abilities and strategies. However, most of this research is based on raw performance, such as response times and accuracy. These measures are informative about decision‐making outcomes but tell us little about cognitive processes. In
