Ballistic movement performance in karate athletes

Medicine &amp Science in Sports &amp Exercise, 1997
Nine male karate athletes and 13 untrained men did maximal voluntary isometric (MVC) and ballistic elbow extension actions, the latter unloaded (L0) and against a load equal to 10% MVC (L10). The karate group achieved greater (P < 0.05) isometric (32%) and ballistic action peak torque with L0 (30%) and L10 (40%).

Reference ballistic imaging database performance

Forensic Science International, 2004
Ballistic imaging databases allow law enforcement to link recovered cartridge cases to other crime scenes and to firearms. The success of these databases has led many to propose that all firearms in circulation be entered into a reference ballistic image database (RBID).

Performance study of a ballistic compressor

AIAA Journal, 1976
An experimental and theoretical investigation of the performance of a ballistic compressor is described. Comparison of the computed ideal behavior of the ballistic compressor with experimental test pressures show that the ideal theory overestimates the generated pressure by as much as 30%.

The ballistic performance of narrow fabrics

International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2007
Woven fabrics are widely used in soft body armour. The ballistic performance of a range of narrow fabrics was determined and compared to that of wider fabric panels. In contrast to conventional ballistic fabrics, it was found that the performance of narrow fabrics was highly sensitive to changes in fabric specification.

Modeling and analysis of circuit performance of ballistic CNFET

Proceedings of the 43rd annual conference on Design automation - DAC '06, 2006
With the advent of carbon nanotube technology, evaluating circuit and system performance using these devices is becoming extremely important. In this paper, we propose a quasi-analytical device model for intrinsic ballistic CNFET, which can be used in any conventional circuit simulator like SPICE.

The relationship between strength, power and ballistic performance

Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology, 2009
The purpose of this investigation was to answer the question, "Does Stronger Mean Faster?". After a screening for elbow strength and speed, four groups of 8 subjects were selected for further investigation that fell into the extreme quartiles of the strength and speed continuums.

A Study on the Ballistic Performance of Composites

Macromolecular Symposia, 2006
AbstractThe mechanical behaviour and ballistic performance of carbon, glass (E and S type), aramid and polyethylene fabric reinforced composites with different epoxy resins were studied. The specimens – produced by hand lay‐up method – were characterized by low velocity (Charpy and drop‐weight tests) and high velocity (two different calibre ballistic ...

Relationship between isokinetic performance and ballistic movement

European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1983
The present experiments were carried out to assess the relationship between the mechanical behaviour of the leg extensor muscles in 12 male athletes during activities of a ballistic type and torque production, during: (1) torque production during isokinetic contraction: (2) ballistic type activities (vertical jumps from statis position = SJ, with ...

Impact of Ballistic and Quasi-Ballistic Transport on Performances of Double-Gate MOSFET-Based Circuits

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 2008
A drift-diffusion-like formulation for including ballistic and quasi-ballistic transport in the simulation of double-gate MOSFETs has been implemented in a technology computer-aided design (TCAD) simulator. This model is based on a description of the quasi-ballistic mobility through a dynamical description of the mean free path.

Ballistic impact performance of metallic targets

Materials & Design, 2012
Abstract Performance of metallic targets under ballistic impact loading is presented. The entire ballistic impact event considering target performance can be divided into dynamic plastic penetration, spherical bulge formation, bulge advancement, plug formation and exit and projectile exit. Velocity, displacement, force, deceleration of the projectile
