Ballistic performance of multi-metal systems

International Journal of Protective Structures, 2020
Ballistic resistance enhancement of armours and structures has been a prominent area of research over the years. Monolithic metallic plates have been the preferred choice for armours against high-velocity projectiles. High-strength steel is a popular choice for such systems.

Ballistic movement performance in karate athletes

Medicine &amp Science in Sports &amp Exercise, 1997
Nine male karate athletes and 13 untrained men did maximal voluntary isometric (MVC) and ballistic elbow extension actions, the latter unloaded (L0) and against a load equal to 10% MVC (L10). The karate group achieved greater (P < 0.05) isometric (32%) and ballistic action peak torque with L0 (30%) and L10 (40%).

Relationship between isokinetic performance and ballistic movement

European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1983
The present experiments were carried out to assess the relationship between the mechanical behaviour of the leg extensor muscles in 12 male athletes during activities of a ballistic type and torque production, during: (1) torque production during isokinetic contraction: (2) ballistic type activities (vertical jumps from statis position = SJ, with ...

Ballistic performance of ceramic/composite structures

Ceramics International, 2019
Abstract The aim of this study is to investigate the ballistic behavior of ceramic/composite structures with different thicknesses and different reinforcements, numerically. The guns were shot at four different velocities on composite models using armor-piercing 7.62 M61 AP projectiles.

BALLISTIC PERFORMANCE OF ADHESIVELY BONDED JOINTS

Proceedings of the 32nd International Symposium on Ballistics, 2022
In this study, ballistic performance of adhesively-bonded Single Lap Joints is investigated experimentally and numerically. Using a specially-designed experimental set-up, a projectile with mass of 1.25 gr and density of 11.3 gr/cm3 was fired to the joints at a velocity of 288 m/s.

Ballistic performance of composite metal foams

Composite Structures, 2015
Abstract The application of advance materials to manufacture hard armor systems has led to high performance ballistic protection. Due to its light-weight and high impact energy absorption capabilities, composite metal foams have shown good potential for applications as ballistic armor.

Ballistic Performance Prediction for SC Jets.

30th International Symposium on Ballistics, 2017
The performance of a shaped charge warhead is usually predicted based on an experimentally determined standoff curve valid for a specific target material. However, with the increased variety of target compositions the traditional “shoot and score” approach is not feasible anymore – neither financially nor with respect to time. In this paper, a combined

Ballistic impact performance of composite targets

Materials & Design, 2013
Ballistic impact performance of structures made of polymer matrix composites is presented. During the ballistic impact event, the energy lost by the projectile is absorbed by the composite target through various energy absorbing mechanisms. Compression of the target directly below the projectile, compression in the region surrounding the impacted zone,

Ballistic impact performance of metallic targets

Materials & Design, 2012
Abstract Performance of metallic targets under ballistic impact loading is presented. The entire ballistic impact event considering target performance can be divided into dynamic plastic penetration, spherical bulge formation, bulge advancement, plug formation and exit and projectile exit. Velocity, displacement, force, deceleration of the projectile

The ballistic performance of narrow fabrics

International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2007
Woven fabrics are widely used in soft body armour. The ballistic performance of a range of narrow fabrics was determined and compared to that of wider fabric panels. In contrast to conventional ballistic fabrics, it was found that the performance of narrow fabrics was highly sensitive to changes in fabric specification.
