Performance study of a ballistic compressor

AIAA Journal, 1976
An experimental and theoretical investigation of the performance of a ballistic compressor is described. Comparison of the computed ideal behavior of the ballistic compressor with experimental test pressures show that the ideal theory overestimates the generated pressure by as much as 30%.

Ballistic performance of ceramic–metal composite structures

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021
Abstract In this study, a numerical analysis of the ballistic performance of ceramic–metal composite structures is investigated. In the analysis, the two composites consist of distinct ceramics, namely Alumina and Boron Carbide tiles supported by the Aluminum plate were tested for numerical analysis.

Ballistic impact performance of composite structures

Composite Structures, 2002
One of the materials commonly used in the aerospace and automotive industries is polymer-based composites. It also has potential for even greater usage. In this paper the ballistic impact performance of some polymer-based composites is experimentally considered.

High performance textiles for ballistic protection

2011 Defense Science Research Conference and Expo (DSR), 2011
The protective textiles market is growing due to increasingly rigorous requirements for human safety, rising liability concerns and the need for higher levels of clothing performance. This study provides comprehensive analysis of fibres, materials and manufacturing methods used to make protective textiles for use in ballistic protection and safety ...

The relationship between strength, power and ballistic performance

Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology, 2009
The purpose of this investigation was to answer the question, "Does Stronger Mean Faster?". After a screening for elbow strength and speed, four groups of 8 subjects were selected for further investigation that fell into the extreme quartiles of the strength and speed continuums.

Nanomaterial-Based Surface Modifications for Improved Ballistic and Structural Performance of Ballistic Materials

2022
Improving the ballistic protection abilities of engineering materials has become increasingly important given the continuous rise in threat levels. Two polymeric fibers heavily used as ballistic materials for their high strength to weight ratio, impact resistance, energy absorption, and wear and abrasion resistance are ultra-high molecule weight ...

Ballistic performance maps for thick metallic armour

Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1999
Abstract This paper presents a concept for generating a certain type of Ballistic Performance Map to assess the armour quality of metallic materials without resorting to expensive and time-consuming experiments. The maps are essentially based on a Ballistic Performance Index, developed by the authors in an earlier work, which describes the ...

Ballistic performance of angle-interlock woven fabrics

The Journal of The Textile Institute, 2016
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the ballistic performance of angle-interlock woven fabrics. Different fabric structures firstly have been compared to benchmark the ballistic performance of angle-interlock woven fabrics using the energy loss test.
