Journal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 8, February 20, 2026.Poly(lactic) acid (PLA) biodegradability in fiber form is relatively unexplored. This study shows that the drawing of the fibers during production affects the mechanical properties but slows down the biodegradation of the PLA. Biodegraded undrawn fibers showed peeling whereas drawn fibers showed crack formation on the surface.
