Recent Trends in Ballistic Protection
There has been a tremendous improvement in the design of ballistic protective materials, which have been in use from time immemorial. Developments in the technology of manufacturing high performance fibres and production processes have enabled the production of light weight body armour with improved protection levels.

Ceramic–polymer composites for ballistic protection
Advances in Applied Ceramics, 2006Armour systems require advanced solutions, relying on a combination of materials of different natures to provide adequate ballistic protection and weight saving. For the first time in the present study composite layered systems based on monolithic armour ceramic tiles joined with polymer infiltrated ceramic foams have been designed and evaluated for ...

Ballistic protection using snow
International Journal of Impact Engineering, 2022Small (5.56 mm, 7.62 mm and 9 mm) and medium (12.7 mm) arms rounds were fired at snow-filled 1.5m cubic gabions in a mid-winter condition in Fairbanks, Alaska. The rounds were excavated and penetration by each ammunition type was measured. A distribution and average of penetration depth was determined.

Review of ballistic protection materials: Properties and performances
Journal of reinforced plastics and composites, 2022Ballistic clothing is a crucial safety element that helps to save lives of its wearers. According to the protection level, the ballistic vest is reinforced by one or two armor panels designed to resist to attacks destinated to upper parts of the body ...

Ballistic Studies in Eye Protection
American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1964Abstract : This work was undertaken to evaluate ballistically the resistance to penetration of optical lenses and rabbit eyes by lead and steel BB's. Plastic CR39 lenses were tested, in addition to several types of glass lenses. On the basis of the evaluations, it was concluded that: the plastic lenses were the most resistant to both missiles.
