Full counting statistics in disordered graphene at Dirac point: From ballistics to diffusion

open access: yes, 2010
The full counting statistics of the charge transport through an undoped graphene sheet in the presence of smooth disorder is studied. At the Dirac point both in clean and diffusive limits, transport properties of a graphene sample are described by the ...

A remotely operated blood sampling and sedative administration device in freely moving pinnipeds

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 4, Page 1175-1187, April 2026.
Abstract A remotely operated device for use with freely moving pinnipeds was designed and successfully developed for the collection of blood samples and the administration of sedatives via an indwelling, venous catheter. The performance of the sampler, called the ‘Mossquito’, was demonstrated on six wild caught, young‐of‐the‐year grey seals ...

Experimental study of bullet-proofing capabilities of Kevlar, of different weights and number of layers, with 9 mm projectiles

open access: yesDefence Technology, 2019
Kevlar is the most commonly used material as armour for protection against bullets used in hand guns because of its impact resistance, high strength and low weight.

Helically Magnetized Plasma: From Photonic Fermi‐Arc Metal to Chirality‐Free Uniaxial Medium

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
A helically modulated magnetic field in magnetized plasma realizes a photonic Fermi‐arc metal, enabling full analytical tracking of Weyl node evolution. As modulation strengthens, opposing‐chirality Fermi arcs hybridize and recombine, yielding a chirality‐free uniaxial optical medium without conventional node annihilation.

Phase Separation of Nucleic Acids: Mechanisms, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 11, 9 March 2026.
Recent discoveries have shown that single‐stranded long‐chain nucleic acids can undergo temperature‐induced phase separation, enabling formation of micrometer‐sized condensates. This Minireview discusses the current mechanistic understanding of this phenomenon, highlights strategies for controlling the physical and chemical properties of these ...

Electrical spin protection and manipulation via gate-locked spin-orbit fields

open access: yes, 2014
The spin-orbit (SO) interaction couples electron spin and momentum via a relativistic, effective magnetic field. While conveniently facilitating coherent spin manipulation in semiconductors, the SO interaction also inherently causes spin relaxation.
