Long-term natural ageing effects on the structural, mechanical, and ballistic performance of UHMWPE-based soft ballistic inserts

open access: yesMaterials & Design
The aim of the study was to evaluate the degradation mechanisms of ultra-high molecular polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibres used in soft ballistic inserts manufactured in 2003 and 2005 and used and stored in conditions typical for this type of products.

Between Hedging and Bandwagoning: E3 and Iran's Nuclear Program From the JCPOA to the 2026 “Ramadan War”

open access: yesGlobal Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article examines the evolution of the European Troika's narratives on Iran's nuclear program, from the aftermath of the JCPOA to the 2026 “Ramadan War.” Drawing on an analysis of 55 official statements by E3 leaders and diplomats, the study traces how the E3 shifted between a posture of normative hedging and one of bandwagoning.

Graphdiyne as a Hole‐Transport Channel in Carbon Nitride Heterojunctions for Synergistic CO2 Reduction and γ‐Butyrolactone Synthesis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 28, 6 July 2026.
A fully metal‐free heterojunction constructed from graphdiyne (GDY) and polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) enables efficient coupling of CO2 reduction and tetrahydrofuran oxidation. GDY serves as a hole‐transport channel, establishing a built‐in electric field that drives spatial charge separation. The optimized catalyst achieves near‐unity selectivity for

Ballistic composites – protecting the protectors

open access: yesReinforced Plastics, 2017
It seems scarcely credible that thin polymer fibers, bound together in resin, can stop projectiles ranging from a hand-gun bullet to a high-power rifle round, but they can and have done so, saving many lives in the process. Composite body armor protects a wide range of civilians from security guards to police officers and from bailiffs to VIPs.

Israel's Post‐War Healthcare Obligations

open access: yesBioethics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Since the beginning of the Israel–Hamas war in 2023, the healthcare infrastructure within Gaza has been dismantled. While international humanitarian law mandates distinction between lawful targets (combatants and military objectives) and non‐lawful targets (civilians and civilian objects), and acknowledging the inherent complexities of ...
