Ballistic testing of transparent armour ceramics
Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2009The testing methodology for transparent armour is described. The focus of this paper is on the assessment of the protective strength of transparent ceramics being used in transparent armour systems. Not only the ballistic testing method but also experimental techniques which allow the visualization of damage and the projectile penetration are discussed.

The ballistic range and aerothermodynamic testing
15th Aerodynamic Testing Conference, 1988A renewed interest in hypervelocity vehicles requires an increase in our knowledge of aerothermodynamic phenomena. Tests conducted in our ground-based facilities can be used both to better understand the physics of hypervelocity flight, and to calibrate and validate computer codes designed to predict vehicle performance in the hypervelocity environment.

Ballistic range and aerothermodynamic testing
Journal of Aircraft, 1991Recent interest in hypervelocity vehicles requires an increase in our understanding of aerothermodyn amic phenomena. Tests conducted in ground-based facilities will be used to better our understanding of the physics of hypervelocity flight and to verify computer models that will be used to predict vehicle performance in this environment.

BALLISTIC TESTING OF SPECTACLE LENSES
American journal of optometry and archives of American Academy of Optometry, 1969ABSTRACT A ballistic method for testing spectacle lenses in safety frames is presented. Three categories of prescription spectacle lenses (industrial and dress thicknesses, tempered glass, and dress thickness allyl resin plastic), and one category of plano spectacle lenses (industrial ...

BALLISTIC TESTS OF BULLET IMPACT INTO WATER
Proceedings of the 32nd International Symposium on Ballistics, 2022Research works described in the paper, were performed within the framework of the project: Laboratory stand for stopping high-energy projectiles (Agreement no. DOBBIO10/ 04/02/2019). Methods used nowadays in forensic laboratories allow to stop some kinds of projectiles with degree of deformation which lets to use them for comparing traces to bullets ...

Abstract : The fundamentals are presented for a rational system of armor plate ballistic testing. The desirable properties of armor are first discussed. These are (1) high resistance to penetration, (2) freedom from back spalls, (3) freedom from cracking (shock failure).

Improved Ballistic Test and Evaluation Methodology
2006 IEEE Systems and Information Engineering Design Symposium, 2006Ballistic test and evaluation of body armor is of great priority for the US Army to meet current operational needs. The current experimental design process centers on standardized threat level classifications and a baseline ballistic limit velocity, V50; both measures originate from the National Institute of Justice circa 1979. The measures are complex,
