Ballistic Pendulums and Dynamic Testing of Clays
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1979Ballistic pendulums provide simple and effective means of testing clays at constant rate of strain. Tests were performed at strain rates of 1,400%/sec and 2,300%/sec. Increasing stiffness of stress-strain response reported for lower strain rates (up to 0.17%/sec was found to occur for higher strain rates as well as for the horizontally oriented samples.

JTCG/AS Interlaboratory Ballistic Test Program
1997Abstract : A two-phase study was conducted to determine the efficacy of MIL-STD-662E in ballistic protection limit determination for advanced lightweight armor technologies. The first-phase results demonstrated an unacceptable variability in limit estimates across sites.

Ballistic testing of B4C-Al cermets
1999The ballistic effectiveness of ceramic armor can be improved by improving the ductility, because this would increase the time duration of the erosion process where most of the projectile energy is dissipated. Increase in ductility can be obtained by mixing in some metallic phase into a ceramic.
