Unusual Enhancement in He(23S) Airglow Brightness Associated With Interplanetary Magnetic Field Northward Turnings During the 2025 New Year's Day Storm

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 19, 16 October 2026.
Abstract The upper thermosphere is important in the context of space weather, but continuous monitoring of the thermosphere at high latitudes remains limited despite its strong variations associated with geomagnetic activity. Orthohelium, He(23S), is found from the upper thermosphere to lower exosphere, and is a promising tracer of atmospheric dynamics.

Uniform Amorphization of Crystalline Silicon Surfaces Enabled by Deep Ultraviolet Femtosecond Laser Pulses

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 19, 7 October 2026.
Deep‐UV (258 nm) femtosecond pulses enable uniform amorphous silicon writing on Si(100)/(111) with a six‐fold larger fluence amorphization window than NIR methods. Optimized fluence and overlap yield 20–45 nm uniform and continuous amorphous layers. Microscopy shows sharp interfaces, and real‐time reflectivity reveals nanosecond melt–resolidification ...

Bioinspired Adaptive Surfaces for Intelligent Liquid Manipulation: Progressing From Passive and Active to Hybrid Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 56, 8 October 2026.
This review examines passive, active, and hybrid liquid manipulation strategies, highlighting hybrid approaches as an emerging route to reconcile energy efficiency with adaptive control. By actively reconstructing passive surfaces to store programmable interfacial energy, hybrid systems enable flexible yet low‐power liquid transport, with perspectives ...

Textile‐Based Capacitive Pressure Sensors Enabled by Ultrasonic Spray‐Coated Carbon Black Electrodes and Electrostatic Flocking

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 13, Issue 19, 6 October 2026.
A 4‐layer Kevlar‐based composite is fabricated by combining ultrasonic spraying and electrostatic flocking. Carbon black dispersion is first deposited onto Kevlar fabric to create a conductive electrode. Nylon fibers are then electrostatically flocked onto the coated fabric, forming a dielectric layer.

Deep‐Tissue Light Generation via Whispering Gallery Mode Lasing From a Commercial Nylon Fiber for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 19, 7 October 2026.
A dyed nylon fiber is implemented inside the scattering phantom and skin tissue. The deep‐tissue light generation via whispering gallery mode lasing is demonstrated, achieving a depth of >50 times transport mean free path in scattering phantom and 3 mm beneath skin.

High‐Speed Active Imaging Based Target Deviation Measurement and Optical Calibration for Laser Screen Velocimetry Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
A high‐speed active imaging methodology resolves photoelectric response inconsistencies in laser screen velocimetry. By converting unobservable triggering deviations into quantifiable pixel displacements, this approach enables direct in situ spatial calibration of virtual detection screens.

Reconstructions of Laser‐Driven Molecular Magnetic Fields: A Possible Approach to Probe Anomalous Magnetic Signatures

open access: yesAdvanced Theory and Simulations, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 2026.
Magnetic fields of laser‐driven benzene, naphthalene, and anthracene are reconstructed from TDDFT current densities by two routes. The continuum Biot–Savart law gives a smooth transverse dipole. The current–magnetization (CMH) framework resolves structure locked to the carbon skeleton, including sign‐reversed y‐axis lobes and a quadrupolar x‐axis ...

Cation Diffusion‐Mediated Displaced Reaction‐Transformation in Green Steelmaking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 56, 9 October 2026.
The removal of O lattice atoms by environmental H2 at the surface of Fe3O4 results in Fe enrichment, driving the inward diffusion of Fe cations into the bulk. Through hopping between unoccupied and initially occupied sites, cation diffusion triggers a spatially displaced reaction‐transformation and drives subsequent dynamic phase transformations and ...

Multiphoton Quantum Reservoirs For Robust Multidimensional Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 59, 23 October 2026.
Projective measurements reveal hidden multidimensional quantum networks within classical multiphoton fields, enabling robust quantum reservoirs for room‐temperature quantum simulation, prediction, and information processing. These networks transform noisy classical photonic platforms into scalable quantum computational architectures.
