Current status of intragastric balloon for obesity treatment.

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastroenterology, 2016
Endoscopic bariatric therapy may be a useful alternative to pharmacological treatment for obesity, and it provides greater efficacy with lower risks than do conventional surgical procedures.

HIFU‐Driven Targeted Pyroptosis Therapy in Basal‐Like Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a HIFU‐driven pyroptosis strategy for BLBC treatment. Combining HIFU with platelet‐membrane hybridized liposomes encapsulating mitoxantrone enhances tumor targeting and efficacy. The synergistic treatment modulates key epigenetic regulators and activates the pyroptotic pathway through ROS generation and inflammasome signaling ...

Comets and Balloons [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1881
THE notion that the tails of comets are produced by an emission of the nucleus prevails at present among astronomers. I have just stated in a small pamphlet, 8vo, 32 pages, the reason why I presume to entertain another opinion on this subject. The details of my last aerial trip of July 2 show that by using an electric light night ascents at a ...

Spatiotemporal Characterization of the Functional MRI Latency Structure with Respect to Neural Signaling and Brain Hierarchy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Resting‐state fMRI captures intrinsic brain activity, yet the physical significance of latency structures remains unclear. In this study, the spatiotemporal properties of fMRI‐derived latency structures are examined by linking them to biophysical model‐based neural functions, intrinsic neural timescales, and functional gradients.

Variations in Innate Immune Cell Subtypes Correlate with Epigenetic Clocks, Inflammaging and Health Outcomes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uses a high‐resolution DNA methylation reference panel for 19 immune cell‐types, as well as transcriptomic, metabolomic, and large population cohort data to show that age‐related epigenetic heterogeneity within monocytes correlates with inflammaging, biological age, and all‐causemortality, and does so more strongly than existing monocyte ...

Macroscopic Conductivity of Uniaxially Compacted, Sintered Balloon Aggregates

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2007
Balloon compacts attract a great attention as a new class of lightweight materials. In the present paper, macroscopic thermal conductivity of uniaxially compacted and sintered balloons is evaluated for various compaction degrees and balloon's inner ...

A Stray Balloon [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1885
THE Times published on September 29 a short extract from the Bermuda Royal Gazette, communicated by me, describing the appearance of a balloon, passing over Bermuda on August 27, and which I suggested might be one of those which ascended this year in England or France, and had not been subsequently heard of.

Vinyl Acetate‐Enhanced Polyvinyl Chloride Gel with High Electroadhesion and Self‐Heating‐Tunability for Soft Robots in Freezing Environments

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a vinyl acetate‐enhanced electroactive polyvinyl chloride gel with low‐voltage deformation, strong electro‐adhesion, and controlled heating. Leveraging these synergistic properties, this work develops soft robots capable of fast locomotion, swarm reconfiguration, and low‐temperature operation (‐50°C).

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Exacerbates the Advancement of Renal Fibrosis by Modulating Renal CCR2+PIRB+ Macrophages Through the ANGPTL8/PIRB/ALOX5AP Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ANGPTL8/PIRB/ALOX5AP axis mediates liver‐kidney crosstalk. Hepatocytes secrete ANGPTL8, which binds to CCR2+PIRB+ macrophages in the kidneys, affecting the expression of ALOX5AP and enhancing the activation of these macrophages. Activated cells produce TGF‐β, IL‐6, and IL‐23, driving Th17 activation and promote the formation of myofibroblasts ...
