Uncover Hidden Physical Information of Soft Matter by Observing Large Deformation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Detecting internal abnormalities in soft matter remains challenging due to its heterogeneous nature. This study introduces a method that infers hidden physical properties by matching observed deformation with simulation through parallel Bayesian optimization.

Measurements of gondola motion on a stratospheric balloon flight [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Balloon experiments are an economically feasible method of conducting observations in astronomy that are not possible from the ground. The astronomical payload may include a telescope, a detector, and a pointing/stabilization system. Determining the attitude of the payload is of primary importance in such applications, to accurately point the detector ...

Rapid Blood Clot Removal via Remote Delamination and Magnetization of Clot Debris

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A programmable colloidal microswarm is developed to quickly detach blood clots and enable rapid recanalization, with the detached debris functioning as a magnetic “debris‐robot” that can be efficiently propelled and retrieved via catheter suction, which could significantly save time compared to the critical “Golden 6 hours” window for ischemic stroke ...

Asprosin‐FABP5 Interaction Modulates Mitochondrial Fatty Acid Oxidation through PPARα Contributing to MASLD Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Aided by FABP5, abnormally elevated asprosin in hepatocytes enters the nucleus, targets and inhibits PPARα binding to the CPT1A promoter, thereby suppressing FAO. Circulating asprosin exacerbates insulin resistance, collectively driving MASLD progression.

Paternal Obesity‐Induced H3K27me3 Elevation Leads to MANF‐Mediated Transgenerational Metabolic Dysfunction in Female Offspring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Paternal lifestyle and environmental exposures play a critical role in the offspring's health. The present study established a paternal obesity model and demonstrated that elevated H3K27me3 levels in sperm persist through the 8‐cell embryo stage. This epigenetic modification triggers transgenerational decrease of MANF, inducing ER stress and activating

Electroactive Electrospun Nanofibrous Scaffolds: Innovative Approaches for Improved Skin Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores the potential of electroactive electrospun nanofibrous (EEN) scaffolds for enhanced skin wound healing. It discusses how a variety of electroactive materials can be prepared into EEN scaffolds via electrospinning technology, and their applications in various wound types. The review provides insights into the future perspectives for

Analysis of Memory Ballooning Technique for Dynamic Memory Management of Virtual Machines (VMs) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Memory ballooning is dynamic memory management technique for virtual machines (VMs). Ballooning is a part of memory reclamation technique operations used by a hypervisor to allow the physical host system to retrieve unused memory from certain guest virtual machines (VMs) and share it with others. Memory ballooning allows the total amount ofRAM required

A buoyant tornado-probe concept incorporating an inverted lifting device [PDF]

open access: yes
Addition of an inverted lifting device to a simple balloon probe is shown to make possible low-altitude entry to tornado cores with easier launch conditions than for the simple balloon probe.
