Bake Sales to Save Nature: Why Wall Street Conservation Survives
ABSTRACT Academics have spent decades analysing the harms and failures of market and finance‐led biodiversity policy. Yet, even though ‘selling nature to save it’ looks less like the promised green capitalism and more like a decades‐long bake sale in that its efforts are small, piecemeal and rely on copious amounts of cheap capital, the approach ...

Abstract Objective Focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) is a developmental malformation of the cerebral cortex and a leading cause of drug‐resistant epilepsy in children and young adults. Disruption of the excitation–inhibition (E–I) balance is a hallmark of neuronal hyperexcitability in FCD, yet the underlying synaptic ultrastructural changes remain poorly ...

Resilience of riparian spiders to floods: evidence from a mesocosm study
Mesocosm experiment to assess the impact of flood duration on flood‐naïve riparian spider communities. In May, spider richness decreased with flood duration, while in June, flood duration increased abundance, richness and promoted wetland specialists. Flood‐naïve riparian spiders unexpectedly appear highly resilient to flooding.

Abstract Aim To develop a 3D‐printed model enabling treatment simulation of trauma‐related endodontic and restorative procedures like revitalization or placement of an apical plug on teeth with incomplete root formation. Methodology To generate a realistic training model suitable for trauma‐related simulations, CT‐Data sets were segmented, combined ...

Modeling, designing and simulating a pointing control system for balloon-borne solar experiments [PDF]
A simplified model of a pointing control system for balloon-borne solar experiments is chosen. Equations of motion for this model are derived and a feedback control law is defined. A digital computer simulation of the system is developed.

Critically Assessing Arts‐Based Research: Moving Forward With Tension and Care
Abstract This article is premised on the understanding that arts‐based research (ABR) has a twofold relationship with peace: the future of ABR is dependent upon conditions of scholarly peace (constructive critique and ethical practice)—a dependency that holds implications for ABR itself to serve wider movements towards peace (socially, ecologically and

Spherical balloon response to three-dimensional time-dependent flows [PDF]
The concept of the Lagrangian displacement of a balloon is introduced. It is shown that the general balloon response problem is extremely complicated because the wind-forcing functions in the balloon equations of motion are functions of the wind velocity
