The Lower Palaeozoic margins of Baltica
Gff, 1998Abstract The palaeocontinent of Baltica was palaeobiologically and geographically isolated in the early Ordovician, but drew closer to other palaeocontinents as the Ordovician progressed, colliding firstly with Avalonia in the latest Ordovician and then Laurentia to form Laurussia in the middle to late Silurian. Key faunas, particularly from the Baltic

Symbiotic interactions in the Ordovician of Baltica
Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2015Abstract Eleven symbiotic associations between taxa occur in the Ordovician of Baltica, most involving colonial animals. Bryozoans formed the most numerous associations (including possible polychaete bioclaustrations, possible polychaete borings, conulariids, and crinoids) and had the highest number of symbiosis cases. In Baltica, the Late Ordovician

U-Pb ages of detrital zircon suites from Paleozoic strata in the Arctic Alaska–Chukotka terrane (AAC), Alexander terrane, northern Sierra terrane, and eastern Klamath terrane of the North American Cordillera suggest an exotic Gondwana or Baltic origin.

Ammonium and attachment of Rhodopirellula baltica
Archives of Microbiology, 2011A dimorphic life cycle has been described for the planctomycete Rhodopirellula baltica SH1(T), with juvenile motile, free-swimming cells and adult sessile, attached-living cells. However, attachment as a response to environmental factors was not investigated. We studied the response of R. baltica to nitrogen limitation.

Symbiotic interactions in the Silurian of Baltica
Lethaia, 2016Thirteen symbiotic associations occur in the Silurian of Baltica. Symbiosis was especially prominent among colonial animals, most commonly with stromatoporoids. These sponges hosted the most diverse fauna of endobiotic symbionts (including rugosans, Syringopora, ‘polychaetes’, cornulitids and lingulids).

Cambrian-Ordovician paleogeography of Baltica
Geology, 1991Recent paleomagnetic data and existing paleontological evidence show that Baltica occupied temperate southern latitudes during Cambrian and Early Ordovician time, but was inverted with reference to its present orientation. Hence the currently opposed margins of the Baltic and Laurentian shield were not conterminous in the early Paleozoic.
