Experimental Study on Uniaxial Compression of Bamboo Nodes Using 3D Scanning Technique [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
Bamboo is a kind of ecological building material for its physical and mechanical characteristics, such as fast growth, high yield, high strength, high toughness and good environmental performance. However, there are few studies on the influence of bamboo

Effect of bamboo fibres and lime on engineering properties of expansive soil

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Abstract Shear strength, differential settlements and lofty compressibility, extensive soil usually create a problem for civil engineers and geotechnical engineers. Stabilization is one of the oldest ways to augment the soil quality of problematic soil.

Life cycle of bamboo in the southwestern Amazon and its relation to fire events [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2018
Bamboo-dominated forests comprise 1 % of the world's forests and 3 % of the Amazon forests. The Guadua spp. bamboos that dominate the southwest Amazon are semelparous; thus flowering and fruiting occur once in a lifetime before death ...

Bamboo Forestry in China: Toward Environmentally Friendly Expansion

open access: yesJournal of Forestry, 2001
Abstract Bamboo, with a long tradition in China, is one of the emerging sectors in the Chinese economy. It is making an increasingly large contribution to farmers' income and playing an important role in rural industrial development. Bamboo products are also being substituted for wood products, a process that has been accelerated by a

Study on the Tradition and the Prediction of the Expansion of Bamboo Forests

open access: yesJournal of The Japanese Institute of Landscape Architecture, 2004
The purpose of this study was to investigate how existing bamboo forests expanded and to estimate their expansion. The bamboo forests were followed from 1968 to 2002. The data obtained were collected by using the GIS system at four points in time: 1968, 1978, 1992, and 2002. They were statistically analyzed to examine changes over time.

Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) expansion drives divergent mycorrhizal responses and stand reorganization via soil nitrogen and phosphorus imbalance and microbial network restructuring

open access: yesEcological Indicators
Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) expansion into adjacent forests reduces plant diversity and disrupts soil nutrient cycling. However, the ecological mechanisms through which it drives stand simplification via soil-microbe-plant system interactions ...
