In-Band Disparity Compensation for Multiview Image Compression and View Synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper presents a novel framework to achieve scalable multiview image compression and view synthesis. The open-loop wavelet-lifting scheme for geometric filtering has been exploited to achieve signal-to-noise ratio scalability and view-type ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Z-shaped duodenojejunal loop: sign of mesenteric fixation anomaly and congenital bands [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Roentgenology, 1983
Four children (ages 3-9 years) with intermittent abdominal pain and vomiting are reported. Upper gastrointestinal examinations revealed a sharply angulated to-and-fro course (Z configuration) of the distal duodenum and proximal jejunum, rather than the usual smooth duodenojejunal loop at the ligament of Treitz.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Hybrid Microstrip/Slotline Ultra-Wideband Bandpass Filter with a Controllable Notch Band

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2017
An ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) with a controllable notch band is presented by using hybrid microstrip/slotline structure. Firstly, a slotline resonator with symmetrically loaded stubs is fed by two microstrip lines to produce a UWB ...

Design of Compact Dual-Mode BPFs Based on Cantor Fractal Geometry with U-Shaped Capacitive Coupling [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering and Technology Journal, 2018
This study displays two microstrip bandpass filters using dual mode loop and patch resonators in form of Cantor geometry. The proposed filters exhibits one and two bands frequency responses for each of them respectively.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Non-Hermitian bulk-boundary correspondence and singular behaviors of generalized Brillouin zone

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2021
The bulk boundary correspondence, which connects the topological invariant, the continuum band and energies under different boundary conditions, is the core concept in the non-Bloch band theory, in which the generalized Brillouin zone (GBZ), appearing as

Compact dual‐band antenna using inverted‐L loop and inner rectangular loop for WLAN applications

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2015
A small loop antenna for WLAN applications is proposed, which is comprised of an inverted‐L loop and an inner rectangular loop achieving dual‐band resonances within a compact size of 4.5 mm × 6.5 mm. A series capacitor in the feeding loop is employed for impedance matching of both bands and a shunt capacitor for high band, respectively.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...
