We study the consequences of interference effects on the current generated by adiabatic quantum pumping in two distinct one-dimensional (1D) lattice model. The first model contains an Aharonov-Bohm (AB) loop within a tight-binding chain of lattice sites.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Space Maintainers in Dentistry: Past to Present [PDF]
Early orthodontic interventions are often initiated in the developing dentition to promote favourable developmental changes. Interceptive orthodontic can eliminate or reduce the severity of a developing malocclusion, the complexity of orthodontic ...

We present a general methodology towards the systematic characterization of crystalline topological insulating phases with time reversal symmetry (TRS).~In particular, taking the two-dimensional spinful hexagonal lattice as a proof of principle we study ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Z-shaped duodenojejunal loop: sign of mesenteric fixation anomaly and congenital bands [PDF]
Four children (ages 3-9 years) with intermittent abdominal pain and vomiting are reported. Upper gastrointestinal examinations revealed a sharply angulated to-and-fro course (Z configuration) of the distal duodenum and proximal jejunum, rather than the usual smooth duodenojejunal loop at the ligament of Treitz.

A Quantized Inter-level Character in Quantum Systems
For a quantum system subject to external parameters, the Berry phase is an intra-level property, which is gauge invariant module $2\pi$ for a closed loop in the parameter space and generally is non-quantized. In contrast, we define a inter-band character
