Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Banding with lesser trochanter fragment using nonabsorbable tape in trochanteric femoral fractures

open access: yesSICOT-J, 2021
Introduction: Trochanteric femoral fracture is one of the most common fractures in the elderly. Trochanteric femoral fracture with involvement of the lesser trochanter is considered unstable and recognized as having a poor prognosis. However, fixation of

G-banding of plant chromosomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
A method for the staining of the chromosomal material of plant cells so as to induce G-Bands, useful in plant genetic studies such as hydridization. G-Banding is induced by contacting living plant cells, such as those of plants of the family Gramineae ...

BANDED SURFACES, BANDED LINKS, BAND INDICES AND GENERA OF LINKS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Knot Theory and Its Ramifications, 2013
Every link is shown to be presentable as a boundary of an unknotted flat banded surface. A (flat) banded link is defined as a boundary of an unknotted (flat) banded surface. A link's (flat) band index is defined as the minimum number of bands required to present the link as boundaries of an unknotted (flat) banded surface.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Effects of Aquaculture on Migration and Movement Patterns of Double-Crested Cormorants

open access: yesHuman-Wildlife Interactions, 2017
We analyzed 10,620 recovery records for double-crested cormorants (Phalacrocorax auritus) banded as nestlings from 1923 to 2006 to determine the population’s age structure, migration routes, dispersal patterns, and the possible influence of the expansion

Dual-Band Band-Pass Filter with Fixed Low Band and Fluidically-Tunable High Band [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2017
In this work, we present a dual-band band-pass filter with fixed low-band resonant frequency and tunable high-band resonant frequency. The proposed filter consists of two split-ring resonators (SRRs) with a stub and microfluidic channels. The lower resonant frequency is determined by the length of the SRR alone, whereas the higher resonant frequency is

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Characterization of two marker chromosomes in a patient with acute nonlymphocytic leukemia by two-color fluorescence in situ hybridization [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
A patient with acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL), M5b according to French-American-British (FAB) classification, showed monosomy 16, an extra 1p−, and a 21q+. These derivative chromosomes could not be defined by GTG-banding.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
