Variable Bandwidth Analog Channel Filters for Software Defined Radio [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
An important aspect of Software Defined Radio is the ability to define the bandwidth of the filter that selects the desired channel. This paper first explains the importance of channel filtering.

Phase Change Material‐Driven Tunable Metasurface for Adaptive Terahertz Sensing and Communication in 6G Perceptive Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the benefits of metasurfaces made from functional materials, highlighting their ability to be adapted and improved for various high‐frequency applications, including communications and sensing. It first demonstrates the potential of these functional material‐based metasurfaces to advance the field of sub‐THz perceptive networks ...

Low Power Analog-to-Digital Conversion in Millimeter Wave Systems: Impact of Resolution and Bandwidth on Performance

open access: yes, 2015
The wide bandwidth and large number of antennas used in millimeter wave systems put a heavy burden on the power consumption at the receiver. In this paper, using an additive quantization noise model, the effect of analog-digital conversion (ADC ...

Multiband Switchable Microwave Absorbing Metamaterials Based on Reconfigurable Kirigami–Origami

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A reconfigurable metamaterial featuring tunable microwave‐absorbing and load‐bearing performance is proposed. Stretchable kirigami and bistable origami configurations are integrated as actuating components, and the synergistic deformation mechanisms are systematically analyzed.

Flexible-bandwidth needlets

open access: yesBernoulli
We investigate here a generalized construction of spherical wavelets/needlets which admits extra-flexibility in the harmonic domain, i.e., it allows the corresponding support in multipole (frequency) space to vary in more general forms than in the standard constructions.

Peptide Sequencing With Single Acid Resolution Using a Sub‐Nanometer Diameter Pore

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To sequence a single molecule of Aβ1−42–sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), the aggregate is forced through a sub‐nanopore 0.4 nm in diameter spanning a 4.0 nm thick membrane. The figure is a visual molecular dynamics (VMD) snapshot depicting the translocation of Aβ1−42–SDS through the pore; only the peptide, the SDS, the Na+ (yellow/green) and Cl− (cyan ...

Full‐Spectrum Solar Harvesting and Desalination Enabled by Supra‐Nano Amorphous Ruthenium Dioxide – Mineral Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mineral‐based supra‐nano amorphous ruthenium dioxide composite (a‐Ru0.5‐AM) was designed, achieving 97% broadband solar absorption. Under one sun, it reaches 87.91 ± 0.32 °C with a distinct thermal buffering effect that favors thermal confinement.
