Computation of Treespan. A Generalization of Bandwidth to Treelike Structures

open access: yes, 2012
Motivated by a search game, Fomin, Heggernes and Telle [Algorithmica, 2005] defined the graph parameter treespan, a generalization of the well studied parameter bandwidth. Treespan is the maximum number of appearances of a vertex in an ordered tree decomposition, i.e. a tree decomposition intro- ducing at most one new vertex in each bag. In this thesis,

Machine Learning‐Based Optimization of Pixel Light Intensities for Improving Polymerization Accuracy in Digital Light Processing 3D Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A machine learning platform is developed to optimize sliced images for digital light processing 3D printing by locally tuning light intensity for higher precision printing. A reduced‐order model accurately predicts the degree of conversion in 3D space to calculate resulting shapes.

High‐Transmission Mid‐Infrared Bandpass Filters using Hybrid Metal‐Dielectric Metasurfaces for CO2 Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
This article presents a hybrid metal‐dielectric metasurface in transmission mode for mid‐infrared (MIR) spectroscopy. Composed of germanium on aluminium cylinders atop a calcium fluoride substrate, the metasurface achieves 80% transmission efficiency at λ = 2.6 µm with a narrow full‐width‐half‐maximum of 0.4 µm.

Fiber Bragg Gratings with Micro‐Engineered Temperature Coefficients

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 13, Issue 8, March 13, 2025.
Fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are intrinsically responsive to temperature and strain simultaneously. In this research, low‐loss FBGs with micro‐engineered temperature coefficients are fabricated, utilizing refractive index liquid‐filled microchannels in the cladding.
