Amplitude and Bandwidth of the Frontalis Surface EMG: Effects of Electrode Parameters
Psychophysiology, 1984ABSTRACTIn the present investigation, the frontalis surface EMG was differentially recorded during static voluntary submaximal contractions. First, mean rectified EMG (MREMG) and EMG signal bandwidth were examined for two different bilateral EMG derivations (superior and inferior) with the electrodes placed in horizontal direction and two unilateral ...

Optimal bandwidth selection for forecasting under parameter instability
Journal of Financial EconometricsAbstract This article addresses practical issues associated with the use of the local estimator in forecasting models that are affected by parameter instability. We propose an approach to select the bandwidth parameter in the context of out-of-sample forecasting.

Varying bandwidth parameter method on Kernel Gini index estimation
Annals of the University of Craiova Mathematics and Computer Science Series, 2023Most of measures of income inequality are derived from the Lorenz curve and many authors state that the Gini index is the best single measure of inequality. The present paper reviews some of theoretical properties of the Lorenz curve and provides a non-parametric estimate of the Gini index and the almost sure convergence of this estimate.

Nonparametric Estimation of Volatility Function with Variable Bandwidth Parameter
Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2013In this article, we introduce a new method for the volatility function estimation of continuous-time diffusion process dX t = μ(X t )dt + σ(X t )dW t , which is based on combining the idea of local linear smoother and variable bandwidth. We give the expressions for the conditional MSE and MISE of the estimator and obtain the optimal variable bandwidth.

Dispersion-slope parameter for monomode fiber bandwidth
Optical Fiber Communication, 1984Current single-mode communications systems generally use lasers with pulsed spectral widths of less than a few nanometers centered near the zero-dispersion wavelength λ0 of the overall fiber link. However, there is some uncertainly concerning the information-carrying capacity of these links.

Noise, gain, and bandwidth characteristics of the variable parameter amplifier
1957 International Electron Devices Meeting, 1957An investigation has been made determining the noise, gain, and bandwidth characteristics of the general variable parameter system (i.e., a system similar to the type proposed by Landon and Suhl for amplification, conversion, and oscillation using ferrites). The basic circuit and its operation are illustrated in the following description.

Extending the Peak Bandwidth of Parameters for Softmax Selection in Reinforcement Learning
IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, 2017Softmax selection is one of the most popular methods for action selection in reinforcement learning. Although various recently proposed methods may be more effective with full parameter tuning, implementing a complicated method that requires the tuning of many parameters can be difficult.

Parameter estimation aspects and the role of bandwidth in a notch filter
1982 21st IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1982In this paper, the notch filter model developed for the retrieval of sinusoidal signals in noise is reexamined. A stochastic Gauss-Newton method is developed for adaptively estimating the parameters of the model. Various forms of simplifications (gradient truncation) which assure stability and convergence are then examined.

Optical parameters and space–bandwidth product optimization in digital holographic microscopy
Applied Optics, 2012This paper considers some of the most important optical parameters that characterize a digital holographic microscope (DHM) and presents their mathematical derivation based on geometrical and diffraction-based models. It supports and justifies the use of the out-of-focus recording of holograms by showing that the field of view can be increased when ...

Usage Parameter Control and Bandwidth Allocation Methods for Atm-Based B-Isdn
4th IEEE ComSoc International Workshop on Multimedia Communications. MULTIMEDIA, 1992This paper proposes a ATM traffic management scheme that utilizes a deterministic source traffic descriptor, a deterministic Usage Parameter Control (UPC) algorithm and a conservative statistical bandwidth allocation method. The scheme not only guarantees the QOS of all connections but also allows for large statistical multiplexing gain.
