Bandwidth Selection in Nonparametric Kernel Testing [PDF]

open access: yes
We propose a sound approach to bandwidth selection in nonparametric kernel testing. The main idea is to find an Edgeworth expansion of the asymptotic distribution of the test concerned.

A Smart Magnetically Actuated Flip‐Disc Programmable Metasurface with Ultralow Power Consumption for Real‐Time Channel Control

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study proposes a 1‐bit programmable metasurface based on flip‐disc display, named flip‐disc metasurface (FD‐MTS). This new design enables ultralow energy consumption while maintaining coding patterns. It also exhibits high scalability and multifunctional flexibility.

ks: Kernel Density Estimation and Kernel Discriminant Analysis for Multivariate Data in R

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Software, 2007
Kernel smoothing is one of the most widely used non-parametric data smoothing techniques. We introduce a new R package ks for multivariate kernel smoothing.

A rule-of-thumb for the variable bandwidth selection in kernel hazard rate estimation [PDF]

open access: yes
In nonparametric curve estimation the decision about the type of smoothing parameter is critical for the practical performance. The nearest neighbor bandwidth as introduced by Gefeller and Dette 1992 for censored data in survival analysis is specified by

Laser‐Based Sculpturing of Embedded Ultrathin Metal‐Oxide Nanopores for Enhanced Biomolecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.

CMT performance optimization algorithm based on union prediction of bandwidth and round trip time

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2015
Concurrent multipath transfer (CMT) uses the stream control transmission protocol's (SCTP) multihoming feature to distribute data across multiple end-to-end paths in a multihomed SCTP association.

Generating Cell Surface Nucleated Hydrogels with an Artificial Membrane‐Binding Transglutaminase

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell‐based therapies require advanced strategies to enhance cell delivery and bioactivity. Cell membrane engineering offers an avenue to impart new functions to delivered cells to boost their viability and function. Here, an artificial membrane‐binding transglutaminase is generated and biophysically characterized.

Peer Selection Strategy Using Mobile Agent and Trust in Peer-to-Peer Streaming Media System

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2013
The aim of this study is to improve the quality of service (QoS) for peer-to-peer (P2P) streaming media system with the proposed peer selection strategy. P2P technology is promising for large scale streaming media files distribution over the Internet. As

Spectrally Tunable 2D Material‐Based Infrared Photodetectors for Intelligent Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intelligent optoelectronics through spectral engineering of 2D material‐based infrared photodetectors. Abstract The evolution of intelligent optoelectronic systems is driven by artificial intelligence (AI). However, their practical realization hinges on the ability to dynamically capture and process optical signals across a broad infrared (IR) spectrum.

Numerical performance of Penalized Comparison to Overfitting for multivariate kernel density estimation

open access: yes, 2019
Kernel density estimation is a well known method involving a smoothing parameter (the bandwidth) that needs to be tuned by the user. Although this method has been widely used the bandwidth selection remains a challenging issue in terms of balancing ...
