Najstarija od njih je ivaštanska matica krštenih iz razdoblja 1729.-1751. godine. Od nje su na području Banjolučke biskupije starije samo matice jajačke župe

U knjizi su prezentirane najstarije sačuvane matične knjige župe Banja Luka. Započinju 1753. godine, a pojedini svesci se završavaju 1792. (matice vjenčanih), 1793. (matice umrlih) i 1814. godine (matice krštenih). Pisane su bosanicom na hrvatskom jeziku te latinskim pismom i jezikom.
