Regulation’s influence on EU banking efficiency: An evaluation post crisis

open access: yesCogent Economics & Finance, 2020
This paper examines the impact of regulatory policies on banking market efficiency using a sample of 678 commercial banks from 21 European Union countries for the post-crisis year 2010, controlling for bank-specific and country-specific variables.

Malformin A1–mediated cytotoxicity in ovarian cancer cells occurs through pyroptosis and autophagy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated the effects of the natural compound Malformin A1 (MA1) on the cytoskeleton that regulates cell proliferation and migration. Disruption of the cytoskeleton can impair these processes and promote cancer cell death. MA1 disrupted cytoskeletal organization, induced DNA damage, inflammation, activated autophagy, and pyroptosis ...

LEMBAGA DAN FUNGSI PENGAWASAN PERBANKAN DI INDONESIA

open access: yesMimbar Hukum, 2012
Currently banking supervision in Indonesia is still considered weak. One of the causes that lead to the weak supervision in the banking sector is closely related with the institution and the function of banking supervision itself.

Identification of (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 compound

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a noninfectious BAC‐based SARS‐CoV‐2 replicon that enables antiviral screening under BSL‐2 conditions. Using this platform, we screened 373 food‐derived compounds and identified (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel inhibitor of SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA replication, highlighting the value of safe replicon systems for antiviral ...

Banking Supervision - Conceptual Model of Banking Stress Test [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Dunarea de Jos University. Fascicle I : Economics and Applied Informatics, 2019
This paper brings attention to banking supervision through some specific indicators to the banking system. The main purpose of prudential supervision is to maintain stability and confidence in the banking system. The stress test is a way of assessing the

Evolution‐guided yeast complementation reveals functional differences in human PSPH variants

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Ancient genomes can help guide which human genetic variants are tested experimentally. This study applies that idea to PSPH, a gene involved in serine biosynthesis, and uses high‐throughput yeast complementation to compare variant function. The findings reveal measurable differences among selected alleles and illustrate the value of evolution‐guided ...

Adenosine triphosphate as a modulator of protein interactions and stability

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ATP is best known as the cell's energy currency, but it also shapes how proteins fold, interact, aggregate and form biomolecular condensates. This review explains the emerging physical principles behind these effects, including weak binding to charged protein regions, magnesium‐dependent behaviour and concentration‐dependent control of protein ...

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

Essays on Bank Regulation and Supervision

open access: yes, 2022
The three essays collected in this PhD thesis contribute to a better understanding of bank regulation and supervision by providing evidence of unintended consequences of the current regulation and supervision framework, some that should be curtailed and some that could be explored to improve financial stability.
