Bar Attachments for Overdentures With Nonparallel Abutments

Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1992
Bar attachments are easily fabricated and provide increased retention and support for overdentures. Nonparallel root abutments can preclude the routine use of bar attachments unless modifications are made in the design. This article reviews several existing techniques to successfully fabricate bar attachments in overdenture patients with nonparallel ...

An analysis of the distribution of tension in a bar attached to a plate

Journal of Strain Analysis, 1966
This analysis relates to a bar of finite length attached to the surface of a semi-infinite flat plate, with the axis of the bar parallel to the surface of the plate. The bar projects beyond the edge of the plate and is subjected to tensile load. The object of this study is to determine an equation that describes approximately how the tension in the bar

IMPLANT OVERDENTURE WITH A TAPERED BAR AND LEW PASSIVE ATTACHMENTS

Implant Dentistry, 1997
Although the Lew attachment was originally developed in 1977 to provide retention for overdentures fabricated in conjunction with subperiosteal implants, these attachments can be used with other types of implants. A case is presented describing the use of Lew attachments with a tapered bar and seven root form implants.

Simplified bar-clip attachment for an overdenture patient with divergent roots

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1989
A patient with divergent roots as abutments was treated with a bar-clip overdenture. The treatment allowed complete seating of the abutment copings despite the divergence of the roots because the attachment-receptacle portions slide together during cementation.
