Patterns and Processes of Diel Streamflow Cycles Along the Longitudinal Profile of an Alpine Headwater Stream

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 39, Issue 7, July 2025.
As streamflow integrates ecohydrological signals over time and space, the analyses of diel streamflow cycles (DSCs) can help understand the processes that control variations in diurnal streamflow. After synchronising the DSCs along the longitudinal river profile of an alpine headwater catchment, we can remove (at least reduce) the meltwater influence ...

Combined use of physically based hydrological model and empirical models to improve parameterisation of erosion processes in a flash flood prone catchment

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 49, Issue 12, Page 3934-3948, 30 September 2024.
Estimation of erosion during flash floods using the physics‐based model MARINE is compared with two empirical models RUSLE and MUSLE. Simulations with MARINE show that events can be classified into those dominated by raindrop erosion and those dominated by shear stress erosion. The eroded volumes simulated by the three models are comparable, except for

Low‐Frequency Earthquakes Downdip of Deep Slow Slip Beneath the North Island of New Zealand

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 129, Issue 5, May 2024.
Abstract We report the first catalog of low‐frequency earthquakes in the Hikurangi subduction zone, located beneath the Kaimanawa Range of the North Island at 50 km depth, downdip of regularly recurring (every 4–5 years) deep M7 slow slip events. To systematically detect low‐frequency earthquakes within the regional continuous seismic data, we utilized

Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Tectonic Tremors in the Collisional Orogen of Taiwan

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 4, 28 February 2024.
Abstract Taiwan offers a distinctive tectonic setting as a collisional orogen, ideal for studying tectonic tremors and the slow deformation process in the mountain‐building process. Using continuous seismic data at many stations, which have become available recently, and employing the envelope correlation method, we detected ∼7,000 tremor events from ...
