The placement of bare plural subjects in Dutch

Although subjects in Dutch normally occur in preverbal position, it is not uncommon for bare plurals to occur in postverbal position. We will show that this variation results from two conflicting constraints. Firstly, subjects are preferred in preverbal position, the standard subject position.
