Diverse soil seedbanks are resilient to reintroducing low‐intensity fire in a subtropical grassy woodland

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Seedbanks in this grassy woodland provide a rich biodiversity reservoir which persisted after low‐intensity fire. Patterns of species replacement suggest that activities which diminish above‐ground plant diversity (such as overgrazing or conversion to forest) will impact biodiversity at larger spatial scales, while soil seedbanks are likely more robust

THE URBAN METABOLISM OF FLOOD PROTECTION INFRASTRUCTURE IN JAKARTA, INDONESIA

open access: yesInternational Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Volume 50, Issue 3, Page 545-566, May 2026.

Anholocyclic overwintering of Myzus persicae: Host plant selection as a driver for aphid performance and survival

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, Volume 188, Issue 3, Page 732-744, May 2026.
The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae, is the main virus vector in sugar beet. We examine its performance on potential winter hosts as well as the host selection and overwintering success of anholicyclic aphids in order to improve forecasting models for virus outbreaks through targeted monitoring of suitable winter hosts. Abstract Virus yellows (VY) is

Potential New Records of Mites in Australia Based on Citizen Science (Acariformes, Parasitiformes)

open access: yesAustral Entomology, Volume 65, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper reports on 10 species, 10 genera and 1 family of mites that are recorded in the iNaturalist database but otherwise not recorded from Australia. They include five species of plant parasites in the family Eriophyidae that may be economically important pests.
