The effects of some chemical compounds on the sound absorbing ability of tree bark

Biologia Futura
Tree bark is an important natural polymer for sound absorption. The main components in the bark of different tree species are polymers with high molecular weight such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. The aim of this study is to determine the noise reduction coefficient (NRC), lignin, alcohol-benzene solubility (ABS), carbon (C), and nitrogen (N)

The Sound of Barking Dogs: Meister Eckhart & Saint Thomas Aquinas

New Blackfriars, 2013
AbstractA defining moment for the Dominican Order was its defense of Thomas Aquinas. The General Chapters of Paris in 1286 and Saragossa in 1309 legislated that all friars promote and defend Thomas’ teachings. Surprisingly, however, little has been written of the contributions of Meister Eckhart to this critical debate. Eckhart was a renowned preacher,

Pitch model as interspike interval periodicity present at all active Bark bands during harmonic sound perception

Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2016
A Finite-Difference Time Domain (FDTD) physical model of the basilar membrane (BM) is implemented including the transition of mechanical energy on the BM into spike excitation. The spike train caused by this transition shows energy at all Bark bands of a harmonic input sound.

Is a Human's Bark Worse Than His Bite? Animal Sounds in Croatian Verbs of Speaking

Meaning in Language – From Individual to Collective, 2019
Verbs of speaking play a specific role when it comes to referring to the processes of thinking (i.e. describing them) and interlocutors use them to inform each other about facts, ideas and emotions. All this makes them particularly interesting for cognitive linguists and in this paper we will approach them using the methodology of cognitive linguistics.

[Research on bark-frequency spectral coefficients heart sound classification algorithm based on multiple window time-frequency reassignment].

Sheng wu yi xue gong cheng xue za zhi = Journal of biomedical engineering = Shengwu yixue gongchengxue zazhi
The multi-window time-frequency reassignment helps to improve the time-frequency resolution of bark-frequency spectral coefficient (BFSC) analysis of heart sounds. For this purpose, a new heart sound classification algorithm combining feature extraction based on multi-window time-frequency reassignment BFSC with deep learning was proposed in this paper.
