Barkhausen Noise in thin-film recording heads
International Conference on Magnetics, 1990Barkhausen noise in thin-film heads was studied by exciting the heads with an external magnetic field and with a head-coil-generated field. Observed pulses show an exponential growth and decay, resulting in a second-order wall energy versus displacement model. Analytical expressions are given for the observed pulse shapes.

Abstract A one-dimensional model is studied where Bloch walls in a regular array of pinning centers interact via an exponentially decreasing next-neighbor interaction. A slowly varying uniform field leads to avalanches triggered by depinnings of single walls. The distribution of duration times follows a power law (exponent ≈ 2.6).

Monte Carlo Simulation for Barkhausen Noise
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2004In this paper, a new method is proposed for analysis of Barkhausen noise, which is expected to be useful for nondestructive evaluations for iron-based materials, using Monte Carlo simulation. The results show typical properties of Barkhausen noise such as temperature dependence and grain size dependence are well reproduced by this method.

Barkhausen Noise and Magnetic Amplifiers. II. Analysis of the Noise
Journal of Applied Physics, 1949The Barkhausen noise is calculated for ferromagnetic cores used in magnetic amplifiers. The method of analysis follows that used in the analysis of the shot effect. The signal-to-noise ratio for a typical magnetic amplifier circuit is calculated and compared with experiment.

The frequency spectrum of Barkhausen noise
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1972The spectrum of Barkhausen noise has been measured in iron and analysed using signal analysis techniques. The results suggest that the mean duration of the voltage pulses caused by the domain reversals is less than 5 × 10−5 s and that a domain reversal triggers other domain reversals with a time delay normally of 1 to 2 ms.

Barkhausen noise from sintered permanent magnets
IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1996We introduce the well known Barkhausen technique as a tool for investigation of reversal processes in hard magnetic nucleation-type material. First results of our experiments show the occurrence of correlated grain switching not to be neglectible in the samples of sintered Nd-Fe-B as the volume fraction of multiple Barkhausen jumps reaches 50% near ...

Two dimensional models for Barkhausen noise
SPIE Proceedings, 2005We analyze the current experimental and theoretical research about the magnetization (Barkhausen) noise in magnetic thin films. We observe that, in respect to three-dimensional systems, the situation is much more complicated, and many details still have to be analyzed and understood. In particular, the critical exponents must be correctly analyzed when

Barkhausen noise in amorphous ferromagnetic materials
Physica B+C, 1977Abstract Preliminary results on the Barkhausen noise spectra in amorphous magnetic ribbons as a function of sample shape and of temperature provide information on the clustering of Bloch wall jumps in these materials. A relation is found between noise intensity and core losses, which also suggests some hints for a new approach to the problem of ...

Barkhausen noise calculation from hysteresis parameters
IEEE International Digest of Technical Papers on Magnetics Conference, 2003Summary form only given. Field induced Barkhausen noise (HBN) measurement and prediction is an important tool for nondestructive testing. In the presented model the HBN voltage is considered to be proportional to the number of magnetization reversal events and to the velocity of these reversals.

High resolution magnetic Barkhausen noise measurements
NDT & E International, 1994Abstract High resolution magnetic Barkhausen noise (MBN) measurements of slits in steel have been made using a small magnetic disk read head mounted in a U-shaped laminated sweep field core. Detection occurred for sweep fields oriented both parallel and perpindicular to a slit or through-cut.
