ABSTRACT High litter sizes in pigs are associated with lower birth weights and increased within‐litter variation, which poses challenges to pig farming. Improving piglet uniformity and survival via genetic selection of terminal boars could be a strategy to enhance these traits.

Full‐length coding sequence analysis of the voltage‐gated sodium channel and acetylcholinesterase genes reveals target‐site mutations and acetylcholinesterase gene duplication in housefly (Musca domestica) populations in Japanese livestock barns

We simultaneously analysed insecticide resistance mutations in VGSC and AChE using NGS and hybridization probe capture in houseflies collected from livestock facilities for the first time. Resistance mutations in both VGSC and AChE were detected in most wild populations, suggesting widespread distribution of resistance genes.

Conspecific cueing or cooperative feeding?—Foraging stable flies are visually attracted to conspecific flies

In two‐choice laboratory bioassays, food‐deprived and CO2‐stimulated stable flies were offered paired landing platforms that were baited or not (control) with conspecific flies. The presence of conspecifics prompted the attraction and landing of foraging stable flies.
