Stress-induced transformation in a Ni-Mn-In alloy and the concomitant change of resistivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this work, the influence of mechanical stress on magnetic properties and electric resistance of a Ni-Mn- In alloy was studied. It is shown that compression of Ni-Mn-In polycrystalline specimens brings about a stressinduced martensitic transformation ...

Direct measurements of the magnetocaloric effect in pulsed magnetic fields: The example of the Heusler alloy Ni$_{50}$Mn$_{35}$In$_{15}$

open access: yes, 2015
We have studied the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in the shape-memory Heusler alloy Ni$_{50}$Mn$_{35}$In$_{15}$ by direct measurements in pulsed magnetic fields up to 6 and 20 T.

Impact of lattice dynamics on the phase stability of metamagnetic FeRh: Bulk and thin films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present phonon dispersions, element-resolved vibrational density of states (VDOS) and corresponding thermodynamic properties obtained by a combination of density functional theory (DFT) and nuclear resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (NRIXS) across ...

High‐throughput calculation of large spin Hall conductivity in heavy‐metal‐based antiperovskite compounds

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, Volume 3, Issue 2, June 2025.
The present work establishes high‐throughput database (more than 4500 structures) of SHC in antiperovskites and screens 295 structurally stable compounds and identifies 24 compounds with intrinsic SHC exceeding 500 (ℏ/e) (Ω⁻1 cm⁻1), which is crucial for designing future electric and spintronic devices.

Dynamics in the ordered and disordered phases of barocaloric adamantane

open access: yes, 2022
High-entropy order-disorder phase transitions can be used for efficient and eco-friendly barocaloric solid-state cooling. Here the barocaloric effect is reported in an archetypal plastic crystal, adamantane.

Switching Spin‐States: Spin Crossover vs. Coordination‐Induced Spin‐State Switching

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 27, Issue 35, December 12, 2024.
The total spin of a metal center can be switched in different ways. In this concept, the phenomenon spin crossover is compared with coordination‐induced spin‐state switching. The impact of the switching progress on luminescent properties is briefly discussed. Abstract Switchable molecular materials have continued to attract the interest of chemists and
