Local density of states in double-barrier resonant-tunneling structures. II. Finite-width barriers
Physical Review B, 1989The local density of states (DOS) in the quantum-well region of a double-barrier resonant-tunneling structure is calculated for the case of zero applied bias. As the barrier potential ${V}_{0}$ goes to zero, the local DOS approaches an ${E}^{1/2}$ behavior; as ${V}_{0}$ goes to infinity, a staircaselike local DOS is obtained.

Decay widths for double-barrier resonant tunneling
Journal of Applied Physics, 1991Calculations of the decay width and the partial decay widths for double-barrier resonant tunneling structures are discussed using a description of resonances in terms of the complex energy poles of the transmission amplitude of the system and comparing it with the corresponding Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin approximations.

Determination of depletion width of surface barrier detectors
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1990A simple experimental method to determine the depletion width of a surface barrier detector is discussed. An electron spectrum of Bi207 taken with a detector having depletion width less than the range of the electrons shows an additional peak. The position of the extra peak enables us to determine the depletion width.

Molecule‐Upgraded van der Waals Contacts for Schottky‐Barrier‐Free Electronics
Advances in Materials, 2021The applications of any ultrathin semiconductor device are inseparable from high‐quality metal–semiconductor contacts with designed Schottky barriers. Building van der Waals (vdWs) contacts of 2D semiconductors represents an advanced strategy of lowering

Overcoming the barrier to 1000A∕cm width superconducting coatings
Applied Physics Letters, 2005Remarkable progress has been made in the development of YBa2Cu3O7−δ (YBCO)-based coated conductors, and the problems of continuous processing of commercially viable tape lengths are being rapidly solved by companies around the world. However, the current carried by these tapes is presently limited to about 100A for a 1-cm-wide tape, and this is due to ...

Barrier widths, barrier heights, and the origins of anomalous kinetic H/D isotope effects
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 1990Proton transfer between MeO{sup {minus}} and HOMe has been studied using ab initio molecular orbital theory. At the highest level employed (MP2/6-31+G(d)//6-31G(d)+ZPE), {minus}{Delta}H{sup 298} and {minus}{Delta}G{sup 298} for the formation of the ion-molecule complex MeO{sup {minus}}{hor ellipsis}HOMe from the separated reactants are 26.3 and 15.2 ...

Critical Width of Barrier Islands and Implications for Engineering Design
Coastal Sediments '07, 2007The critical width of a barrier island is defined as the smallest cross-shore dimension that minimizes net loss of sediment from the island over periods from decades to centuries. This concept is of importance for large-scale restoration of barrier islands which involves rebuilding these islands to a specified geometry.

Study on evaluation indexes of the full width deformable barrier test
Advances in Engineering Technology Research, 2023In order to evaluate the crash compatibility of vehicles, the full width deformable barrier is introduced into the vehicle crash test. Real car to car frontal collision is better simulated by installing deformable barrier on the load-cell wall . By the load-cell wall data, the values and distribution of vehicle frontal collision loads can be further ...
