Visceral (hepatosplenic) form of bartonellosis

open access: yesДетские инфекции (Москва)
The relevance of the problem of the visceral (hepatosplenic) form of bartonellosis in children is due to the fact that the disease is one of the causes of the development of the so-called «fever of unknown origin», manifested by the formation of focal ...

Molecular Detection and Genetic Diversity of Bat‐Associated Bartonella spp. in Bat Ectoparasites Collected From Ratchaburi Province, Thailand

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 2, March 2026.
Bat ectoparasites collected from four insectivorous bat species were identified through mitochondrial gene analysis. This study provides the first evidence of bat‐associated Bartonella species in ectoparasites, including bat flies (Phthiridium sp., Raymondia sp.

Surveillance of Zoonotic Pathogens in Small Mammals Across Forests With Different Levels of Anthropization in Eastern France

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
The emergence of infectious diseases associated with land‐use changes is well‐documented. However, the presence and dynamics of zoonotic pathogens in small mammals within European forests, whether from rural development or urban greening, remain underexplored.

Detection of Multiple Microorganisms in Ruminant Ticks in Senegal Using High‐Throughput Microfluidic Real‐Time PCR

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Ticks are major vectors of numerous pathogens affecting both livestock and humans. In Senegal, data on the diversity of tick‐borne pathogens (TBPs) in ruminant‐associated ticks remain limited. In total, 1703 ticks were collected from goats, sheep, and cattle across three ecological zones of Senegal (Sudanian, Sahelian, and Sudano‐Sahelian).

Endoparasites of Rattus norvegicus With Reference to Their Zoonotic Importance in an Urban District, East Kuwait

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Rattus norvegicus (the brown rat) is adaptable to living in urban settlements across the globe, including Kuwait where this rodent species is widespread in human habitats. It has been known that brown rats are reservoirs of many pathogens, including parasites that can pose a threat to human and animal health.

Resolution of pancytopenia in a dog infected with Bartonella rochalimae in association with antibiotic therapy

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Fever, non‐regenerative anaemia and leukopenia were documented in a 7‐year‐old, entire, male Akita Inu dog. The serum biochemistry and urinalysis were unremarkable. Tests for infectious agents were negative, except for SNAP 4Dx seropositive for Anaplasma phagocytophilum or A. platys. PCR for Anaplasma spp. was negative.
