Evaluation of capability of IRS-P6 satellite data for predicting quantitative attributes of forests (case study: Northern Zagros forests) [PDF]

open access: yesمجله جنگل ایران, 2012
The aim of this research was to predict tree density and basal area using IRS-P6 satellite data in the northern Zagros forests. A random-systematic sampling grid consists of 312 circular sample plots (each plot, 0.1 ha) were used to collect field data ...

Clinical, Histopathological, and Molecular Characterization of Pediatric MN1::ZNF341‐Associated Cancer

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A lethal round‐cell malignancy with an MN1::ZNF341 fusion has recently been reported in three infants. Here, we describe four further tumors, three in newborns (including monozygotic twins), and one in an adolescent. Detailed clinical, radiological, and histopathological data differentiate these tumors from their main mimics, neuroblastoma and

DBH growth for three years after thinning on even-aged Pinus koraiensis and Larix kaempferi plantations in South Korea

open access: yesForest Science and Technology, 2019
This study was conducted to determine the effects of different thinning intensities on the DBH growth of Pinus koraiensis and Larix kaempferi trees. Permanent monitoring plots were installed in 26 P. koraiensis plantations and 36 L. kaempferi plantations

Across a macro-ecological gradient forest competition is strongest at the most productive sites

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2014
We tested the hypothesis that the effect of forest basal area on tree growth interacts with macro-ecological gradients of primary productivity, using a large dataset of eucalypt tree growth collected across temperate and sub- tropical mesic Australia. To

Solid Pseudopapillary Neoplasm of the Pancreas in Children and Adolescents: Expert Recommendations

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Solid pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas (SPN) is a rare low‐grade malignant exocrine pancreatic tumor, mostly discovered during the second decade of life in females, with a very good prognosis, provided microscopically complete surgical excision is achieved.

Admixture Mapping Reveals Candidate Regions for Methotrexate Neurotoxicity Susceptibility: A Reducing Disparities in Acute Leukemia Consortium Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neurotoxicity is a rare, often dose‐limiting adverse effect of methotrexate (MTX) therapy that disproportionally affects Latino children. Factors contributing to the observed disparity are not well understood. This study leveraged admixture mapping to identify genetic regions associated with MTX‐related neurotoxicity susceptibility ...

Capturing spiral radial growth of conifers using the superellipse to model tree-ring geometric shape

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
Tree-rings are often assumed to approximate a circular shape when estimating forest productivity and carbon dynamics. However, tree rings are rarely, if ever, circular, thereby possibly resulting in under- or over-estimation in forest productivity and ...

Sociodemographic Factors Associated With Later Stage at Diagnosis of Pediatric Germ Cell Tumors: A Report From Children's Oncology Group Registries ACCRN07 and APEC14B1

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Germ cell tumors (GCTs) often arise in the ovaries and testes (extracranial) but can also develop in the brain (intracranial). We examined the relationship of individual, family, and community‐level socioeconomic status (SES) with stage of disease at diagnosis in a cohort of pediatric patients with GCT from Children's Oncology Group

The Piosphere Effects of Livestock Grazing on Rangeland Vegetation in Ahir Mountain of Kahramanmaras Region

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, 2017
Excessive grazing pressure on rangeland vegetation reduces the basal area value of vegetation and also changes the botanic composition. This study examined the piosphere effects of livestock grazing on rangeland vegetation based on distance from a ...

A basal area model responsive to thinning for a plantation forest

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2001
The Tarawera Valley spacing and thinning trial data were used to develop a dynamical model for basal area prediction that is responsive to both spacing and thinning. The model is a 'critically damped' second-order model, i.e., it simulates a sigmoidal response, before and after thinning.
